Neal McCarthy Electric Band Providence Concert reviews
HALF GREAT,HALF NOT SO GREAT!
Interesting effects need to find Neal McCarthy Electric Band for his show. The guillotine bit is seriously SOOO played over! The choking the nurse at the end of "Ballad of Dwight Frye" is also tired. The major gripe about this show was the song selection. Since 1983's "Da Da", Neal McCarthy Electric Band has not put out a decent album for whatever reason. He has adopted this 80's "hair band" sound, think Bon Jovi! And trust me, that's not a compliment. So, the fact that almost every other song he performed was post 1983 really dragged the show down. In a word, to close the show with that insipid song "Poison" was "BAD". The other songs sounded great, especially "Go To Hell" and "No More Mr. Nice Guy", and the 4 covers of dead rock stars were great. I especially liked "Break on Through" and "Foxey Lady". It would be nice if he did more of the "Schools Out" album. Still, his best piece of work ever and yet the most un-used album as far as his live set is concerned.
